Night crawlers - Does anything bite during ice fishing with night crawlers?

Does anyone use night crawlers when ice fishing for walleyes and perch.  It just doesn't make sense that they won't work.  I've been coming to Mille Lacs or Lake of the Woods for several years and never see any.

I think I will try some this year.  I can still get some and just keep them alive in my worm bed.

I tried leeches a couple of years ago. Swam like crazy down there for hours, but the eyes would look but not touch.

I tried leaches once and had a real hard time keeping them from balling up. A little to cold maybe.

I had the aqua-vu on it and they swam like crazy. This was over new years, but i kept the leeches from labor day.
