A radio station in Winnipeg reported Dec. 30 that Travis Magdalena Scott, whose kayak was discovered on the shore of Mille Lacs in September, has been found living in Winnipeg, Manitoba.


CJOB reported that a Winnipeg pharmacist concerned about a forged prescription called police, who tracked down Scott and arrested him Dec. 22. In a search of his residence, officers found forgery tools, a taser, bear spray, $35,000 in cash and more than $85,000 in gold and silver coins, according to CJOB.
Scott, 34, of Eden Prairie, had pleaded guilty to defrauding an insurance company out of $7 million and faced up to 30 years in prison.
Winnipeg police said Scott flew a small Piper aircraft from Minnesota to St. Andrews airport just outside Winnipeg.
Scott’s 8-foot kayak was found Sept. 10 on the west side of Mille Lacs. There was a bullet hole in the hull.

I never heard about this kayaker, but I did some research and this was not the kayaker that drowned on the East side of Mille Lacs in September.  His name was Todd Ellison.

Howdy Fife, smile

Yes, sadly Todd Ellison was a great guy and he did drown on the east side of Mille Lacs due to that kayak roll over accident in big breakers.

He was known by my family in the Twin Cities.

The gentlemen arrested in Winnipeg tried to fake a suicide or death

near Garrison and got caught later in Manitoba for the huge scam.
