I am looking at upgrading from my Vexilar FL-18 to the Marcum LX-7. can I get feed back from the guys that where using the LX-7 unit last winter or currently? Looking for ease of use, battery life, etc...Thanks.

Howdy, I hope this helps...The Marcum LX-7 looks incredible to me.
FYI, I had really enjoyed my Marcum LX-5 Sonar 3- ColorFlasher System & unit. So the LX-6 and LX-7 must be out this world.
I sold it to Fife at a fair price with only a few hours on it and went to the all digital Marcum Showdown 5.6 rig and vertical display. That has been great for my use on the lake.
For my limited ice fishing visits, the all digital Shwodown is great and Tony Roach coached me a little bit on its use. It is amazing what those units can do nowadays.
Have Fun. MM

I ran a LX-7 last winter, very good unit. Lots of fun to fish with a large flasher/chart/or vertical display. Using the unit I personally found that flasher mode and zoom mode what best for me. Later in the season I found the char mode (like summer graph) and flasher worked well also. Found that with the backlight set below 50% I could get about 14-15 hours of battery life out of the unit. I never went beyond that time frame with out charging. I would imagine it would run longer but I never ran the battery dead.
The Unit is big, doesn't fit inside a bucket for transportation so you have to be smart on how you transport the unit. It comes with a screen protector of hard plastic that will reduce some impact buy certainly not a 20lb propane tank....Don't ask....
This is a great unit also because you will always have the ability to upgrade the unit when MarCum puts out Updates. You will never have obsolete technology with any of MarCums new digital flashers going forward. That is a huge plus when spending that kind of money.
This year I am running the LX-6, same features just smaller as it fits my fishing style better. More of an ice troller and moving around a lot.
Love mine!!!! It is like 3D. I run mine with the zoom column, the water column and the flasher all at once. Cal can confirm this, but it has no moving parts or motors so will get much better battery life as motors on flashers use a lot of the battery life. The battery life is the reason I bought it and it not been a disapointment.
Thanks guys for the replies - it really helps calm my concerns. I wanted one last year but held off, I can't fight the itch any longer, going to pick one up today. Can't wait to get my houe pulled on the ice at Hunters Point and enjoy the winter season with a new flasher!
