I personally did not get the chance to go up and take part. But my Cousin Mike and his boys and a couple friends did. They put the pounding on some fish as you can see by the pictures below. The text messages i recieved thru the day tortured me to say the least. But real happy for them as they had a blast. How couldn't you.
I was part of the smack team seen in the pics and vidoes, we tried a few different line set-ups, the best seemed to be an off white lead head with red eyes and a leech.
I second the assessment of the walleye bite. Saturday, especially Saturday night, was crazy. We landed 7 keeper fish out of 30+ fish boated. We caught quite a few 11-13" fish, which was a surprise. We found an area that was holding predominantly small and keeper fish. We used bobbers and leeches, the size of leech did not seem to matter, but plain hook was the ticket.
I had him in the slot-size-synthesizer machine. HA. Borrowed it from the un-DNR coalition.
The bite was pretty good in the Agate Bay area and gravel bar formations. Of course it was my jumbo leeches and presentation that got 'em going. Keep up the Mojo please.
It was a fun weekend, It was great to finally catch a fish on Mille Lacs after fishing it 4 times and my first fish was a Monster! Thank you Ertls for taking me up fishing
