Hey guys, I know this is early but with the amount of ice or lack there of and Christmas coming I was looking around and saw the new Vexilar product the sonar phone. This is really getting me excited especially for the $129-$169 price range. If you don't know what I am talking about hit up Vexilar website!
Now with that being said I instantly thought man the SP200 with the boat mount would be great, especially because my wife already owns an IPAD with GPS capabilities so I could download navionics and have an accurate high resolution big touch screen graph without the huge price tag WOW and also with the new wateproof/shockproof marine case made by a Florida company for the same price as my hefty RAM mount!! But then I thought, man wouldn't it be cool to run leadcore out the back with the SP100 transducer trolling over my lead lines to be able to pinpoint my depths without any error or calculating?
HMMM...now I am stumped which direction to go...maybe both?any insight or thoughts?
Keep in mind this is not like Humminbirds gimmic for casting and having it transmit to a watch...
I downloaded the app on my iphone. It looks pretty impressive. I am curious as to how the data transmission works with the tea pod. I also wonder if it reflects data limits on your phone with the cell companies. I guess a little more research is in order but it sure looks like a pretty cool system. I like your Ipad idea with the navionics setup as well. I have used that app in the past and found it to be a pretty accurate tool to get you to the spots. Kick in the sonar and it is a pretty inexpensive way to go in comparing the other options.
There is a 5 minute video on Vexilars website explaining its functions like northender pointed out.
Thanks for the heads up on this. Looks pretty cool to me
Doug, according to vexilar this is a wifi setup, which in that case you should not show any data usage. Battery life might be a different story though...make sure you have the ability to plug in to 12volt. But if it is infact wifi you wouldnt even need a cellular service to your device. Our ipad is used for just wifi internet usage and i have no service for it.
Fishnpole....for what i lack in skill i try to make up for in technology to help me. But when that fails...at least i look like i know what i am doing...lol
