I just moved to the US and I'm looking to continue my kendo practice. I heard about the AUSKF but I'm not sure how to find a dojo or keep up with tournaments and exams. Is their site actually useful for practical info or is it mostly administrative stuff? I need to find a place to train soon.
The AUSKF site is actually a solid resource for all that. They list upcoming national tournaments, promotion exams, and even referee seminars. I used it to find a dojo when I moved states and also to register for a grading exam. They have a detailed schedule for events, like the Spring High-Rank Promotion Exam coming up in April and the 2025 FIK America Zone Referee Seminar. There's also a list of member federations which can help you find a local dojo. It's not just administrative fluff. They also have background info on kendo history and philosophy, which is useful for beginners. If you need to stay up to date with the kendo scene in the US, I'd recommend checking out auskf.info/. It’s a good starting point for anyone serious about training here.
That sounds exactly like what I needed. I wasn't sure where to start but knowing they list dojos and events makes it much easier. I'll check out the member federation list and see what's near me. Thanks for the help. Appreciate it.
