Went Fishing Saturday Night on Agate Reef. didn't catch anything under the bobber. We went out and bottom bounced the reef Sunday. Didn't catch much with no wind but when a storm moved in and the wind picked up we caught fish. Had 4 on at once.
The old rule of thumb is that if the wind is blowing bobbers will work, if not drift or troll. I watched a guide and 3 guys doing well with bobbers in the SE rocks in 23' of water on Sunday. As soon as the wind died they moved on. Also you might want to go longer than 4' on the leader...it seems to help. If the wind really dies head for the mud.
2 mile was hot last Friday and Saturday in my boat and my neighbors, in 28 feet. I had a limit of slots by 9pm on Sat., the big fish were biting as well. Used a bobber and fished vertical without one for awhile, the N. wind that came up just before 9pm really triggered the bite, picked up 2 real fast, 18" and 20" and took off for the cabin.
During the day it was all big fish on 2 mile, no slots, this was drifting with a 6ft snell and leech.
