Scientific Discovery- If you watch the time-lapse of the bobbercam for yesterday 1/5. You will notice the whole world is moving north except for the pole that is housing the camera. The things that camera does to help mankind is unbelievable isn’t it? Time Lapse
Please plow the south road twice a day and rotate the ice around my Otter portable. That is pretty incredible. I can now troll those walleyes with Macho Minnow or Raps. How the heck does Doug do that?
Hey the Mille Lacs Messenger had quite the article and photographs of the recovery of the blue Chevy Pickup at Barncles. I have saved the Messenger to show ya. That is quite a hoist and support frame that Jim Staricha's crew used to retrieve the vehicle after the diver got it hooked under water. The article is: 'Weekend Under Water'.
I am sure glad that all 3 men had got out of and clear of the truck before the open crack swallowed it 'alive' so to speak.
When I am there on Mille Lacs--I will just follow Jon or Bobber as they know where the hell they are going and drive SLOW of course. Thanks Doug for the crazy video. Malmo Mike was here...
I don't know about anything happening during the day......but at 6pm last night we experenced a major ice shift! The pressure ridge along shore pushed up causing the house windows to rattle for about 3-4 seconds....caused the cat and dog to go running off into the back rooms!!!
So whats up with this shift on the webcam.....maybe one of the weather guys knows ?? I'll send off a email an see
Hey Paul, speaking of shifts! We have experienced on two different occasions over the past week. Two shifts on the Hunters Point Resort webcam. The timelaps shows a shift on the Bobbercam to the north while viewing it to the west?
Howdy Bobber -- wow this is getting interesting. It is very puzzling to me.
I guess we have always figured that the ice cover shifted -- but it was largely unperceptible to the human eye...unless it was a drastic event and the effects on shore were very dramatic!
But having a stable, mounted web cam sheds a whole new light on measuring these movements. We better anchor our houses on the lakeshore with film at 10PM. I have a couple of good navy anchors, EH? Let me know when you get this one figured out!
In Malmo Bay we have quite a pressure ridge that is pushing dirt and ice up along our shore line. But that is a common occurrence - just more pronounced this year. It will be interesting to see if you get any feedback. Are we living in a new dimension? Maybe George Nitti has a seismic machine in one of the fish houses? Crazy stuff.
Malmo Mike is keeping my labradors in for a bit when at the lake.
After the first time we noticed the timelaps and the shift. I contacted a reliable source on the northend of the lake. They said that the lake had not moved or pushed any amount on that given day. So now go fiqure........
Well guys I hate to burst your bubble, but I have this one solved.
The camera is moving. If you look at the breakwall, it also appears to be moving. I'm going to assume that the breakwall is rooted into the earth and is not moving, so the camera is actually being turned to the South and is giving the illusion that the ice is shifting. Might have to tighten some screws on the camera.

I thought the same thing about the breakwall Fife. I know how the camera is mounted and its never moved before so I cant explain it. Is the pole turning? The camera seems to be almost back to its starting point now again? Man I dont know.
Over the past 24 hours it moved right, then left, then right, and back left. I'm still going with the camera moving. Could it be that the wind is moving it and that causes it to go back and forth?

Could this be the day the Earth moved in both directions? That is: - the earth moved North and then moved South around the camera? - or East and then West arooudn the camera? - We know the erath rotates -- but only in one direction please. But the ice or camera seemed to move Left and then Moved Right (at Mille Lacs)?
You have me stumped unless the camera mount/post is somehow turning with the winds. I may have to have a cold one with Tat2Jonnie to figure it out. The camera is great to have -- but this is a strange phenomena. Malmo Mike loves the web cams anyway.
I know the camera mount itself is not moving that much. The pole itself may be the culprit. Has anyone noticed if all the minnows in the baithouse are all pointed to the north corner of the tank and swimming like mad?
Let see which way the minnows in the baithouse are pointing? That would answer it! The web camera is just following the minnows to the North pole. Of course. Malmo Mike will watch the minnows and report to George.
Okay Jon, I will make a crop circles on the ice with a new Jiffy Propane auger --and that will really confuse the walleyes. Then you and I have a cold one and figure it out for George. Too funny.
That is not an auger. It is a freakin' ice rocket. (with Wharp 7.4 speed.) WOW. Have fun making 'crop circles' on the ice Jon with that baby. Make sure you tie your self onto the truck or something solid before you drill holes.
