I am looking for a little info and Smallies, I am up for a few days over the 4th with the family and would like to try to catch some with my 6 year old daughter. I have never targeted them so I am looking for what I should use for lures and where I should try fishing them at. Not looking for honey holes but where we have a chance at catching some. Thanks in advace for anything anyone can share!!

pray for a nice calm morning with warm temps! they will go nuts! but if not no worries...... for a 6 year old i'd go with a bobber and a leech on a plain hook. look for all the shallow rocks that top out a 5 feet. if its calm and hot one of my all time favorite things to do is get up with the sun and toss top water on the shallow rocks! just an absolute blast when you can get 30 of them in 2-3 hours..

picked one up yesterday fishing for walleyes in the rocks on Three-mile in 19 FOW.

Love the fight these fish give ya. There's alot of BIG smallies on the shallower rocks there, right now.

I don't fish for smallies. I do seem to catch  a fair amount of them on Lakeside, Flamingo, and Agate bay reefs. Either bobber or crank baits. But I am sure any shallow reef would be just as good on the 4th of July weekend.
