The report from the fish cleaning shack is slow! I have started to see a few smallmouth getting cleaned this week along with the walleye. This open water season is really starting slow, you can talk about the water temperature which has now been nearing the 50 degree mark! Wow...and we are nearing the end of the third week of the season.
The reports are still coming in that shiner minnows are getting most of the fish. The slip bobber leech bite is starting to come around. The early morning hours from 6am to mid morning and just before dusk has been the prime time for the bobbers. Some have had luck pitching jigs and minnows along the shallow break lines east and west of the resort.
The weather forecast calls for a slight warm up! Lets wait and see what that will do for our water temperature! Lets hope it warms up soon.......those poor leeches just hate that cold water!
Thanks Fife, Tony and I are good friends and I fish with him every June. I am crazy about June open water fishing.
How can I go wrong?
We have a ball and I learn a lot about current rigging, trolls speeds, and the hot jigs (chartreuse fireball minnow tipped maybe?) ...Big D is maybe getting nervous for next year. ~HA~
